Slenke.com: How to Get Started [Software Review]
Although Slenke has been around since 2015 you may not have heard of the Canadian-built project management software tool. From my research, I discovered two distinct features that the Slenke team is proud of: the tool’s collaborative nature and the extensive encryption provided for files and messages.
(Full Disclosure: This article was paid for by me, but my views are mine. This is an honest review/tutorial about how I found it.

It’s easy and quick to create an account. You can then check out the features free of charge to see if they’re right for you.
Collaboration Features
You can be a part of a project, department or group. Privacy controls are in place at all levels so that you can only see what you are allowed. These groups allow you to participate in targeted conversations and keep communication flowing between the different teams you might be a part of.
It is possible to invite users from outside your organization to join your team. This is useful for when you work with third parties.
The collaboration features are similar to those found in big tools. File sharing and messaging work well and are integrated. It is difficult to test collaboration features with small teams over a short time period. I feel this could be a valuable option for teams, but you would see the value in continued collaboration over a project and not through software review.
I liked the messaging interface. It felt very Skype-like and clean.
There are also iOS and Android apps. The iPad app is very similar to the web version. It is easy to get started and work mobiley.

Basic Features: Adding Tasks
Slenke allows you to add tasks from the homepage dashboard, the Tasks main navigation, or within a project. It’s pretty straightforward. To add a task to the Tasks pane, click the box and type the task name. To add the task, click on the paper airplane icon.
The Tasks main menu shows the tasks added to the New section. This prompts you to add more details if you, like me, chose the lazy option and added a task title.
Clicking on a task will open a panel that allows you to add more information or update files.
It is better to add tasks here than into a project view. You can add tasks outside of the project view and assign them as ‘personal jobs’.
This is so helpful! Many tools are so focused on project-driven options, that you don’t have the ability to do things like prepare the agenda for your PMO meeting. Slenke allows you to manage your entire To Do list within the tool, even if you don’t have any tasks that you can attribute the project to.
Use Boards
Once you have created a project, you can keep all conversations, files, and tasks in that area.
You can then switch to board view from here.
Note: Tasks and Boards don’t always have identical headings. My task lists are called “No Due Date” and “Overdue”. It’s pretty clear. (When you set a future date, there’s a new list that has the status of Upcoming.
My boards are called “To Start”, “In Progress”, and “Completed”. This is clearer than the task list view. I would suggest not switching between them too often in one sitting.
You can add or remove boards (except Completed), and you can also change.
